You might have seen that the arch linux comes by default with command line mode. Arch linux offers wide range of desktop environment like GNOME, KDE, XFCE, Budgie, etc. For rich experience, we need to install desktop environment. There is a wide range of desktop environment supported by Arch linux. We will install Deepin Desktop Environment in this tutorial.Deepin Desktop Environment (DDE) was developed by Deepin Technology for Deepin Linux system known as Deepin OS. DDE is now available for most of the linux distributions like Ubuntu, Fedora, Opensuse, Debian etc. Deepin desktop is a lightweight, elegant desktop environment.

Follow the step by step procedure to Install deepin Desktop Environment on Arch Linux
Step 1: Update
Check your system is up-to-date.To update Arch Linux distro, run the following command as root user from Terminal
sudo pacman -Syu
Once the system is updated reboot the system.
Step 2: Install Xorg server
We need to install xorg(X window System.- The X.Org project provides an open source implementation of the X Window System. The development work is being done in conjunction with the freedesktop.org community. The X.Org Foundation is the educational non-profit corporation whose Board serves this effort, and whose Members lead this work.
To install xorg run following commands
sudo pacman -S xorg xorg-server
If asked for prompt just press Enter
Step 3: Install the deepin desktop environment and extras
Once installation of xorg server is done, Run the following command to install deeepin desktop Environmentsudo pacman -S deepin deepin-extra
If asked for prompt just press enter.
The deepin-extra package contains applications like deepin music player, deepin video player, deepin Terminal ,etc.
Step 4: Configuration
Once the installtion has finished you have successfully installed deepin desktop environment. Now it is time to configure display manager to let us log into deepin desktop environment. Arch provides two ways to enable it.1) Via a Display Manager
To use the default DDE's lightdm greeter you have to modify the configuration file under the[Seat:*]
section, to state:.
/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
[Seat:*] ... greeter-session=lightdm-deepin-greeterNote that a valid home directory must exist for a user other than root for the greeter to work.
Then start and enable deepin desktop environment
systemctl start lightdm.service
systemctl enable lightdm.service
2) Via xinit
To use Deepin via xinit, you'll need to add the following to your .xinitrc file.~/.xinitrc
exec startdde
Step 5: Now Reboot and login to Deepin De
